TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day One
Start your day early and wake up at 5:00am in the morning. You will be taken to Angkor Wat to see the sunrise there. Marvel at the sight of the sun rising over the largest temple in the world. After the sunrise, we'll then explore the vast grounds of Angkor Wat temple. We'll then head back to your hotel for breakfast.
Afterwards, you will be taken to the South Gate of Angkor Thom, one of the other gorgeous temples you can see here. After touring this monument, you will go on to see two more temples, the Bayon as well as Ta Prohm. Both are a testament to the stunning architectural prowess of the Khmer empire. Enjoy your lunch here.
After this, you will be taken to two more temples, the Banteay Srey and the Banteay Samre. The Banteay Srei temple is famous for being built out of red sandstone, as well as the elaborate wall-carvings on its sides. It is often called the jewel of Khmer art, thanks to its buildings being much smaller than the usual size favored by the Khmer architects. Later, return to your hotel.
Day two
Today morning, be ready at 7am to travel to two more lovely temples. Start off at Beng Mealea, whose name translates to Lotus Pond. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is one of the few temples where you can walk on a platform instead of just through or around the ruins. Afterwards, go to Koh Ker, which is a magnificent seven-tiered pyramid surrounded by a dense forest. Enjoy exploring this weathered temple.
Enjoy your lunch around two in the afternoon after enjoying your visit to the two temples. You will then be taken on a quad bike tour of the region.
Marvel at the beautiful sunset before returning your quad bikes and returning to your hotel.
Day three:
You will begin the day early again, and travel to the Kulen Mountain. You will spend the whole day here, as you admire the various beautiful sights here.
You will visit the River of a Thousand Lingas, where you can see numerous carvings and motifs of the lingam, the symbol of the Hindu lord Shiva. Several hundred of these have been etched out of the river bed, and you can watch the water flow over it. You will next be taken to see a statue of a reclining Buddha on the slopes of Kulen Mountain. This is a highly sacred spot for Buddhists, and people from all over the nation travel here to pay homage.
You can also see numerous waterfalls in the area. After enjoying all these beautiful sights, you will be brought back to your hotel for a well earned night of sleep.
Day four
Today after breakfast, you will embark on a cruise of the Tonle Sap river. Apart from seeing the marvels of nature spread all over the region, you can also see some man made wonders, such as the floating village. Numerous tourist shops can also be seen here, as well as a village school. After exploring the area and conversing with the residents, enjoy your lunch in the town.
Later, take a walk in the Cambodian countryside. You will also pay a visit to the local Buddhist monastery in the town, where you can embrace the serene surroundings. Lastly, you can explore the sights of the town as you walk through it, before completing this tour.
